Access to Collections: Special Collections & Archives materials are available for use by midshipmen, faculty, and staff of the United States Naval Academy, and by other researchers upon request. All materials are non-circulating and must be used in the Annapolis Room.

Hours of Service
Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, by appointment only ; 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. closed for lunch ; open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Overview
The Special Collections & Archives Department of Nimitz Library contains over 30,000 rare books, 400 manuscript collections, 25,000 photographs and other documents as well as the official records of the U.S. Naval Academy, with research strengths in naval history, the history of the United States Naval Academy, naval engineering, electricity and magnetism, and submarine warfare. Special Collections & Archives’ reading room, the Annapolis Room, is located on the third floor of Nimitz Library, and boasts views of the Severn River and Greenbury Point.
